Making Hawai'i Home

Getting Settled on the Big Island

*(Above image: we were coincidentally both repping Hawai'i with what we're wearing.)

It is unreal, it has been EIGHT MONTHS being back on the Big Island.   To be honest, we have not fully "settled in" (whatever that means), but we are getting there.

We have been busy with running UofN schools, we have yet to really get our foot into the community like we want and really make ourselves at home.
Random Trivia:
I once heard culture shock & settling in a place can take up to 18 months!

Kona Goals:

Over the next few months we have more time to focus on local ministry & getting settled - yes!  Here are some of our goals:
  • Start dance classes for kids/youth around our Kona community
  • Start Pilates classes and build up clientele for Tammy with Pilates
Random Trivia:
Tammy has had to get a brand new Driver License 5 times within 7 years!  (Incase you were wondering the DMV - no matter the state - doesn't become "more fun").

Prayer Requests:

  • Continue to settle well in Kona!
  • GROW IN DEEPER RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR COMMUNITY:
    • With our YWAM Community
    • With our Kona Community
    • With our Global Community
    • With Jesus!

TAMMY GOING TO LOS ANGELES

Tammy will be attending the WORD IN MOTION Urban Dance Festival in LOS ANGELES, CA this month (JULY).  The end of the festival finishes with the STEP OF HOPE BENEFIT CONCERT for victims of SEX TRAFFICKING if you are in the LA area come check out the concert and support the cause of ENDING HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

Tammy's Trip Prayer Request:
  • Safe Travel
  • Networking
  • Fresh personal breakthrough
  • Skill sharpening (in dance and I'll be visiting my old Pilates Studios)
  • Provision throughout the trip

Highlights

Tammy's Student Graduates

I had the honor of being an Advisor for a student here at the UofN who completed a Directed Studies Course over the last 3 months.  The course topic was: Dancer Anatomy & Stewardship.  My role was to help setup the curriculum, give & grade assignments, as well as general follow up with the student.  My student went through a very intense time of study, study, study.  The topic was a perfect one for me to advise for given my recent completion of my pilates certification and study of anatomy for pilates/dance.

Andreas in Crossfit

"CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity." -www.crossfit.com
This global fitness movement has invaded the YWAM KONA campus and our YWAMers have been using it as a powerful ministry tool in the area of building community and training people to get the Gospel out!  On our Campus the Crossfit ministry is called: Respect the Corners (RTC).  Since coming back to Kona Andreas has become a regular part of this community of Crossfitters.  He is excited to grow in this  community, fitness, health, and with his Bachelors in Nutrition Physiology that he is currently pursuing.

Vision Statement:

Lead by the wisdom of the Lord, my desire is to see the Kingdom of Heaven released and moving on earth in a radical, relevant, supernatural way, through the performing arts and through performing artists who choose excellence in their relationship with God and excellence in the skills God has given them.
